SMIT 2012 Call for Abstracts is open

Participants are welcome to submit abstracts on the topics that are listed for the SMIT 2012. Abstracts should be written according to the instructions below and will be reviewed for acceptance based on their scientific merit. Please specify on the on-line form whether you would prefer an oral or electronic poster presentation, or both.

Authors will be informed in due time whether their abstract/s have been accepted
, and whether for oral or poster presentation. Inclusion of abstracts in the scientific program is dependent upon payment of registration fees.

DEADLINE FOR THE SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS: May 21st, 2012



1. Abstracts must be submitted using the on-line submission link. Do not fax, mail or email your abstracts as they will not be considered.

2. All abstracts must be submitted in English.

3. When uploading your abstract on-line please note the following:

  • Abstracts must be submitted as a word document or a video file or both. The total weight permitted is 15Mb.
  • Title should be typed in CAPITAL LETTERS, bold and left aligned.
  • Presenting author’s name should be underlined and bolded.
  • The affiliations of ALLauthors should be included in the abstract i.e. department, institution, city, country.
  • Font Times New Roman, size 12 points, single spaced and justified.
  • Abstracts must be no longer than one A4 size page (350 words).
  • Margins: right and Left - 4 cm, top and Bottom - 2.54 cm.
  • References may be inserted within the space allocated for the abstract.
  • If submitting more than one abstract, each abstract must be uploaded separately.


There will be no 'paper/hard copy' poster presentations at SMIT 2012. The conference will feature electronic posters, which will be presented on several plasma screen terminals located in the exhibition area. The organizers believe that this forum will make the poster presentations more visible to the conference audience and avoid the need for participants to travel with bulky posters. The posters will be displayed for the duration of the conference.

When you receive notification that your poster has been accepted, you will be sent instructions to assist you in the preparation of your electronic poster presentation.
